Hey, I’m Jack—a multimedia journalist studying Broadcast & Digital Journalism at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School. I’m also the biggest Brooklyn Nets fan you’ll ever meet. Catch me on X @JackChinsky for sports talk and more. I grew up on Long Island, glued to Nets games, dreaming of calling plays like Ian Eagle. Syracuse University’s been my launchpad to make that happen. Now heading into my senior year, I’ve been working to turn that dream into reality while also branching into other fields of media – producing newscasts for NCC News, reporting live at Joe Biden’s Micron conference, covering local news and events for the Long Island Press, and even writing about Hamptons real estate for Dan’s Papers. 

Through hands-on projects in my Mobile and Social Media Journalism course, I refined my craft by tailoring my stories for social media and learning to engage with audiences in fresh, creative ways. As I wrap up at Syracuse, I’m stoked to be in a sports radio class, learning the ropes from Professor Matthew Park, the voice of the Syracuse Orange. I even decided to minor in sport analytics, diving into the numbers behind the game to elevate my sports reporting with deeper insights and precision. Everything has been building towards the next item on my bucket list, becoming a sports reporter for the NBA.
